Bob and Lloyd Barnes are identical twin brothers who live a quiet and reclusive life near 100 Mile House in British Columbia.

Both are completely self-taught, and enjoy an amazing ability to paint subjects directly from their imaginations without the use of reference material.

They generally work in miniature sizes: on masonite lying flat on a table rather than on an easel.

Futhermore, they have developed a very unusual method of painting: they start at the top and work their way down the picture, finishing each area as they go.

Because they work in oils their work has a glow that cannot be communicated digitally.

They also work collaboratively: one brother may start a painting and the other may add details afterward.

Small paintings, only a few inches across, may take up to four days to complete in their glowing, meticulous style.

They grow their own vegetables and devotedly care for numerous cats.
