Ron Hedrick
Born in 1942 in Vancouver, B.C., Ron received his first art instruction from Western Canadian artist Karl Wood in 1968. |

He began painting in earnest in 1981 after moving to Kamloops. Receiving inspiration from the natural scenery and support from new found friends at the Federation of Canadian artists, Ron devoted himself to painting the rolling, lightfilled countryside and supplemented this practical experience with frequent excursions to the library. |

His obvious influences include the Impressionists; you can feel it in the free, spontaneous brushstrokes; he also follows their practice of painting en plein air, weather permitting. Canadian Tom Thomson's use of strong colour and impasto techniques also shaped his art. |

Ron constantly experiments with technique and enjoys giving back to the local art community through encouragement, workshops and private instruction. And yet the subject matter remains a consistent mixture of energy and repose: his subjects seem to be quietly absorbing the beauty of a land or sea dancing with light. |
