New Sculpture by Kevin Peters March 2008.
We are pleased to announce that we have received another fine sculpture by Kevin Peters called Walrus and Baby.
Kevin is very busy with bronze casting these days however, he still finds time to return to his first passion: stone sculpture.

Charisma Gallery is pleased to Welcome back and offer the distinctive sculptures of Kevin Peters. Charisma Gallery had the honor of being the first commercial gallery to represent Kevin. When he was only 16, a teacher gave him a piece of stone and challenged him to see what he could do with it.

Although Kevin's evenings and weekends were spent working on the family farm in Yarrow, he found time to carve a small whale from the stone. Astonished at its quality, the teacher encouraged Kevin to take it around to local galleries. Kevin brought it to Charisma Gallery, and within a few days it was sold.

Although by this time, he was assuming management duties at the family farm, the sale encouraged Kevin to continue to carve in his spare time. At 22, he decided that this is where his heart was, and he began to devote to carving fulltime.

When we say fulltime we are doing a disservice to his dedication and discipline: Kevin characteristically will be at his bench 12 to 14 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is truly a labour of love for Kevin, and this passion infuses every stone that his hands shape.

The carvings in soapstone, moose antler, alabaster and now bronze are distinguished by painstaking attention to detail. His eagles, otters and bears may now be found thoughout the world; one of his collectors includes Steven Spielberg.
In 2000, Kevin and his wife Gina moved to a ranch in Clinton, a rural area that continues to inspire and energize his work.
