This is Hong's latest work called Prosperity.
Hong Zhu began her training in visual art at an early age when she was selected to study at an educational centre for artistically gifted children.
After graduation she was invited to the prestigious Shanghai Arts & Crafts Research Institute, where she studied traditional bamboo carving while continuing her work in painting.
Hong's application has made her one of the few living masters of LIU CHING, an unique form of traditional Chinese bamboo carving.
In 1991, she came to Canada for study of Western art. Her comprehension of both Eastern and Western arts has enabled her to apply the techniques to a variety of materials. Her works include paintings, prints, drawings in pencil and ink, watercolor, Chinese brush and acrylics.
Her current passion is painting on glass. She has been experimenting in this medium for over a year, constantly refining her techniques and methods and her latest work is very colorful and striking.
Her solo art exhibitions were held at One Hundred Antiques (Ontario); Kenneth Gallery (Ontario); Artistic Print & Posters Gallery (Ontario). She also participated in many other group art exhibitions. Her latest work will be included in a group exhibition at Charisma Gallery on November25, 2006. We hope there will be many more shows with her in the future. |
